The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.
We now have an opportunity for a Buyer (12 month maternity contract) to provide critical support to our procurement function, specifically responsible for direct purchasing of aircraft components. This role will start in June 2026.
The Buyer will manage an assigned commodity, oversee day-to-day procurement activities, and ensure timely and accurate processing of purchase orders. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Senior Buyer
- Performing routine day-to-day activities associated with the products and services administering and expediting purchase orders
- Managing MRP requirements to satisfy production schedules and implementation of appropriate recovery plans. Shortage reporting and resolution
- Receiving Bills of Materials and carrying out system checks on materials and services to be supplied to projects and shipping requirements
- Negotiating with suppliers obtaining best price and lead times, resolving any supply chain issues
- Liaising with customers/suppliers to respond to routine queries regarding contract and supply chain issues
- Providing input to project meetings to answer questions concerning contract/supply chain matters
- Monitoring and measuring process performance producing regular and accurate management information/reports as required
- Adhering to a range of standard procedures and precedents to solve problems which arise, with instruction direction and guidance available from others

- Effective communication skills with a good understanding of techniques that drive Quality/cost improvement
- Manufacturing procurement experience (including reading technical drawings, engineering background preferred)
- Experience with Supplier KPI’s and performance management
- The ability to draft standard letters and responses
- Proficient use of MS applications with good understanding of MRP and other planning systems
- Good verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
- ‘Lateral’ thinker – someone who can find solutions for problems and ‘think outside the box’
