We are recruiting three Insurance Business Development Executives (BDEs) to grow Marsh’s SME commercial segment in Witham, Egham, and Worcester. This is a hybrid role requiring you to work at least four days a week on the road or in the office. Each BDE will focus on direct-to-client acquisition and the fast, repeatable placement of commercial risks with premiums between £5,000 and £20,000. The role prioritises Commercial Combined, Contractors, and general commercial product lines, requiring strong prospecting, quoting, and disciplined pipeline management.
We will count on you to:
- New business generation: Proactively source, qualify, and convert direct client opportunities within the £5k–£20k premium band.
- Velocity & conversion: Drive fast sales cycle times through disciplined qualification, quoting, and follow-up to improve conversion rates.
- Handover & early retention: Deliver a clear handover to servicing/account teams and support early retention activity during the first 12 months.
- Market insight: Provide market and insurer appetite intelligence to Product teams to help shape propositions for this segment.
- Relationship building: Develop direct client relationships and, where appropriate, productive introducer or referral relationships that generate direct client leads.
- Quality & governance: Ensure accurate record-keeping and adherence to Marsh internal policies and processes.
What you need to have:
- A minimum of 18 months’ experience in commercial insurance sales (broker, MGA, insurer, or related role) with demonstrable results.
- Proven track record in new business generation and pipeline delivery for high-volume, lower-premium commercial accounts.
- Strong knowledge of Commercial Combined, Contractors, and general commercial product lines relevant to the £5k–£20k band.
- Practical experience with insurer quoting portals, open market placement, delegated authority, or panel management.
- Excellent prospecting, time management, and pipeline management discipline.
- Strong negotiation and commercial judgement; numerate and comfortable discussing pricing and profitability.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the local territory.
