We are seeking an experienced Professional Indemnity Underwriter to join the Underwriting team at Victor. This role can be based in either Bristol, Leeds, Witham or London office. There is an expectation to be in the Bristol office once per month with the wider team; however, the remaining time is flexible on hybrid working.

As an experienced Underwriter, you will carry out a wide range of underwriting activities relating to authorised products. The role will be involved in executing the company strategy and materially contributing to the achievement of our financial plans. You’ll be at the forefront of executing our company strategy, playing a pivotal role in achieving our financial goals while delivering exceptional customer service. Your expertise will shine as you manage and forge strong relationships with our brokers, ensuring they receive top‑notch service and support.

We will rely on you to:

  • Contribute to and implement the underwriting strategy for all products, working within our established risk appetite.
  • Directly contribute towards financial KPI’s, including balancing the achievement of revenue without any detriment to underwriting profitability.
  • Deliver Victor service levels on all authorised products.
  • Have significant awareness of and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, guidelines and working practices – both internally and externally.
  • Spot distribution trends and report back on broker behaviours.
  • Manage quality first and underwriting peer review requirements to identify areas for underwriting and product improvement.
  • Act within underwriting authority.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of relevant class/product specialisms.
  • Keep pace with market trends and developments for authorised industry segments.
  • Build strong relationships with broking and capacity partners.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.

What you need to have:

  • Good understanding of the Professional Indemnity insurance market.
  • At least 2 years financial lines underwriting experience.
  • Have held underwriting authority for chosen class of business previously.
  • Knowledge of the in-scope product and trade range.
  • Experience of working in teams and a successful record of delivering results.
  • Progress towards CII qualification desirable or equivalent experience.
