Mercer is seeking a talented individual to join our Fixed Income Portfolio Management Team. This role will be based in

London or

Cork and is a hybrid position, with a requirement to work in the office a minimum of three days per week.

In this role, you will support the management of discretionary fixed income portfolios on behalf of clients across the International Region, contributing to manager selection, portfolio construction, performance analysis, and ongoing portfolio oversight.

You will work alongside experienced Portfolio Managers and collaborate with Mercer’s market-leading Manager Research team to help deliver innovative investment solutions and strong client outcomes.

This position is ideal for someone with investment management experience who is passionate about fixed income markets and portfolio construction and is looking to develop their career within one of the world's leading investment consulting and delegated solutions businesses.

We will rely on you to

  • Support Portfolio Managers in the management of discretionary fixed income portfolios for International Region clients.
  • Contribute to investment and portfolio construction decisions across a broad range of fixed income asset classes, including government bonds, corporate credit, currency, securitised assets, and other specialist sectors.
  • Assist with investment manager research, selection, and ongoing oversight activities.
  • Help design, develop, and implement new investment strategies and portfolio solutions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of fixed income markets, manager universes, and portfolio positioning.
  • Analyse portfolio performance, risk metrics, and underlying manager results to support investment decision-making.
  • Maintain, enhance, and document portfolio management and risk management processes.
  • Support the integration of technology and AI-enabled tools to improve analytical capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with portfolio performance reporting and the preparation of investment materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues across Portfolio Management, Manager Research, Investment, and Operations teams, as well as external investment managers.
  • Support client management and business development initiatives where appropriate.

What you need to have

  • Previous experience within investment management, investment consulting, asset management, or a related financial services environment.
  • A genuine passion for investment markets and portfolio management.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret investment data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a highly organised approach to managing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a curious and inquisitive mindset.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-based environment.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and confidently.
  • Experience using investment data and analytical tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business applications.

  • Three or more years of investment industry experience.
  • Experience working with fixed income portfolios, multi-manager funds, or manager research.
  • Knowledge of portfolio construction techniques, risk analysis, and performance attribution.
  • Experience using platforms such as e Vestment, Fact Set, or similar investment research and analytics tools.
  • Strong interest in leveraging data and AI technologies within investment processes.
  • Progress towards, or completion of, a professional investment qualification such as CFA, CAIA, FIA, FSAI, or equivalent.
  • Initiative, drive, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and solving problems.
  • Experience working with institutional investors, including pension schemes, insurers, wealth managers, endowments, or foundations.
