The Role

The Associate Power Engineer will play a key role in the delivery of high-voltage power and substation design projects, leading technical packages from concept through to detailed design. The role involves managing project scopes, coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, and ensuring technical quality, safety and compliance throughout delivery. Working closely with clients and project leads, the successful candidate will contribute to business development, support financial control, and help shape a high-performing engineering team. This position offers a balance of hands-on technical leadership and wider project responsibility within a growing power engineering function.

Experience Required

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (Master’s desirable) with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in high-voltage substation design up to 765kV.
  • Strong technical knowledge across electrical, civil and structural aspects of substation design, with familiarity with IEC, IEEE, ANSI and related standards.
  • Proven experience leading design packages and coordinating multidisciplinary teams through concept and detailed design stages.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage client relationships, contribute to business development activities, and support project cost control and delivery.
  • Chartered status preferred, with experience in power system studies software (e.g. DigSILENT, IPSA or ETAP) and a strong commitment to quality, safety and collaborative working.
