Marsh is seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to join our team in London. We are a global leader in risk, reinsurance and capital, people and investments, and management consulting, advising clients in 130 countries. The Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs department assists with legal issues, promotes compliance with law, regulation and standards of ethical conduct, addresses public policy issues crucial to our businesses, and provides risk-management support solutions. Through a shared vision and best practices, we provide efficient and sustainable solutions to meet internal customer business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage employment, restrictive covenant, and benefits-related claims and litigation, including dispute resolution, and manage outside counsel.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to management and Human Resources professionals and assist other employment lawyers on a broad range of employment issues, including recruiting; hiring; employee relations; discipline and terminations; restructurings and redundancies; internal investigations; leaves of absence; compensation compliance; HR policies; independent contractors and contingent workers; mergers and acquisitions and transfers; and restrictive covenant matters.
  • Coordinate training and special projects.
  • Lead or participate in employment-related compliance initiatives.
  • The role may have supervisory responsibility for other lawyers and/or support staff.

What you need to have

  • LLB or equivalent legal qualification
  • Senior-level lawyer
  • 6+ years PQE
  • Proven and extensive employment law experience, including employment litigation, with a major law firm or a global organisation
  • Significant, broad and general knowledge of all aspects of labour and employment law
  • Self-motivated and possess well-developed verbal and written communication skills; a high level of analytical ability; significant problem-solving capability; flexibility; and mature independent judgment
