Responsibilities
Examples of our work might involvethethe preparation of expert reports on a range of economic and finance issues in litigation and international arbitration proceedings, including for example assessing economic damages or valuing companies; supporting regulators and regulated companies inprice control determinations(e.g. cost of capital estimation,financeabilityanalysis);regulatory due diligencesupporttoinvestorsacquiring regulated infrastructure assets;evaluation of climate change and energy policies, including emissions, renewable energy and energy efficiency policies;the assessment of economic impacts including costs, benefits and other social effects of a wide variety of government policies and regulations to markets, businesses and assets;auction design and/or simulation, and competitors’ analysis;orthe development of pricing systems for transport infrastructure.
AssociateAnalystsand Analystsat NERA will have the opportunity to:

Apply the technical skills and knowledge gained during their graduate studies tonumerousindustries across a variety ofjurisdictions

Assistin writing expert reports,preparing presentations to arbitral tribunalsand preparing for cross-examination, including collaboration withlegal professionals
-
Perform and developcutting-edgeeconomic analysis on complex real-life issues
-
Writeresearch reports and prepare client presentations for senior staff and clients to help them make informed economic decisions

Influence project strategy, including the preparation and presentation of oral and written submissions
-
Collaborate with in-house experts and outside academics
-
Develop and strengthen both project and people management skills

Develop and deliver internal training sessions
You will need
-
To hold a BA/ BSc and aMaster’sor PhD in Economicsand/orFinancewith exceptional academic records.Although specialisms such asfinance,microeconomicsandeconometrics are of particular interest, NERA employs strong analytic and empirical economists from any field of speciality.

To enjoy microeconomics,financeand quantitative research

1-2 years’r elevantwork experience inInternational Arbitration orRegulatoryFinancewould bebeneficial

To be comfortable working in Excel;additionalexpertise inStata, R,Pythonor other quantitative software platformswould also be beneficial but not essential

To have strong attention to detail and be able to think analytically and critically

Strong communicationskills in English, both written and spoken, and fluency in another languageincluding SpanishorPortuguese would be preferred

To be able to work effectively both individually and in teams
