Mercer has an opportunity for a DC Master Trust Technical Manager to join our team in London. Reporting to the Mercer DC Governance and Oversight Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible, alongside members of the team, for ensuring Mercer’s DC Master Trusts continue to maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory legislation. This individual works with the wider team on operational-related oversight management.

The DC Master Trust Technical Manager is a key player within Mercer’s market leading Master Trust team which is built on a member first approach while providing safety and security through active governance.

We will count on you for:

  • Work with relevant stakeholders to identify, monitor, and communicate changes in applicable pensions law, regulatory requirements, and industry good practice.
  • Provide ongoing technical expertise on matters concerning applicable pensions law, regulatory requirements and industry good practice working with legal and compliance functions.
  • Where appropriate, review documentation ensuring compliance with applicable pensions law, regulatory requirements, and industry good practice.
  • Provide input to DC Master trust projects, including those required to implement regulatory/legislative change and product enhancements.
  • Provide oversight of third-party administrator’s compliance frameworks and activities, providing guidance and challenge as necessary.
  • Regularly assess regulatory risks across the Scheme, supporting their identification and management.
  • Prompt escalation of significant issues and regulatory risks to relevant stakeholders, including the Scheme Strategist and the Trustee.
  • Provide review of operational incidents.
  • Attend and be a prominent voice at Trustee governance meetings and other appropriate oversight meetings, providing advice to the Trustee and Scheme Strategist on operational compliance matters.
  • Comprehend detailed aspects of our Master Trust business and that you can communicate these in a clear and straightforward manner.
  • Build strong and collaborative relationships with the Operational and third party administrative teams and work closely with them to promote a best-practice approach.

What you need to have:

  • Broad technical knowledge and experience related to Master Trusts.
  • In-depth DC Pensions Technical acumen.
  • Understanding of DC Pensions administration processes.
  • In-depth understanding of all aspects of regulatory obligations from a TPR perspective.
  • Proven track record of working with senior stakeholders and external stakeholders such as The Pensions Regulator.
