Marsh Re in London is looking for a resourceful, proactive candidate to join our Facultative Broking team, focusing on energy facultative reinsurance with particular emphasis on upstream and renewable energy risks. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to deepen their experience in the energy class within a highly collaborative, market-leading team.
You will work closely with clients and London Market facultative reinsurers to structure, negotiate, and place tailored facultative solutions. We welcome candidates with either a strong underwriting or broker support/placement support foundation with London Market placing exposure, or experience gained in a direct insurer or wholesale environment. We are open to candidates who began their career in a support role and can demonstrate clear progression into broking responsibilities. Prior exposure to energy risks and/or energy clients (upstream and/or renewables) through broking, underwriting, or placement support is preferred.
We will count on you to:
- Broker energy facultative placements end-to-end, supporting clients with placement strategy, market engagement, and execution.
- Work with clients and internal stakeholders to understand risk, coverage needs, and placement objectives, translating these into effective market submissions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with London Market reinsurers, negotiating pricing, terms, conditions, and coverage to achieve positive client outcomes.
- Produce and manage placement documentation (e.g., submissions, quotes, market presentations, cover notes/slips, and contracts) in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manage the placement lifecycle through to binding and post-bind activity, including follow-up on contract documentation and ensuring timely flow of materials.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the business to deliver coordinated client solutions and high-quality service throughout the process.
What you need to have:
- Proven experience in the energy insurance/reinsurance market, with direct involvement in upstream and/or renewable energy risks (through broking, underwriting, or placement/technical support aligned to energy business).
- A background as an energy-focused broker (or clear, demonstrable experience working within an energy broking team), with practical exposure to London Market placement and day-to-day engagement with underwriters/reinsurers.
- Demonstrated ability to support or deliver facultative placements (or closely related placing activity), including working with risk information, shaping submissions, and managing market queries through to quote/bind.
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients, colleagues, and market participants, and confidence operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven placing environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and document discipline—able to manage multiple time-sensitive workstreams while maintaining accuracy across submissions and placement documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical energy risk information into clear, high-quality market submissions and presentations.
- Preferably ACII qualified or working toward ACII (or equivalent professional development).
What makes you stand out?
- Experience broking facultative business within the energy class of business, or a clear, demonstrated interest in building your career in upstream/renewables.
- Background in a role where you’ve supported the full lifecycle of placements and can operate with ownership and accountability.
- Strong technical understanding of energy risks and/or a proven track record of quickly developing product and market expertise.
- Established relationships with London Market facultative reinsurers (or a strong ability to build a market network quickly) and confidence presenting submissions to underwriters.
- A track record of taking ownership end-to-end, proactively managing stakeholders and anticipating issues through contract production and post-bind follow-up.
