We have an exciting opportunity to join Marsh as a Data Analyst for the Marine, Cargo & Logistics specialty division of Marsh Risk. This is a full-time, hybrid working role which will be based at our Marsh UK - Birmingham office (with opportunity to travel to Marsh UK – London office periodically). The role is UK focussed, also with responsibility for co-ordinating and aligning data/analytical activity across the Global Marsh Marine network.
You will be relied upon to support UK & Global - Marine, Cargo & Logistics broking teams by producing timely, validated analytics and operating AI enabled workflows that help to deliver superior client outcomes, aligning standards across the Marsh Marine network.
What can you expect? You will be working at the cutting edge of the industry for one of the leaders in the field. You will be a key member of the Marine Data & Analytics team during a period of rapid modernisation of core working processes and unrivalled opportunity to uncover insight from information collected from clients, insurers and broker trading activities. This will be supported with access to and exploration of emerging marine/logistics industry relevant tools from third party vendors to support adoption of digital first solutions. You will be encouraged to undertake additional training to support your role, including but not limited to a Multiverse delivered data apprenticeship qualification.
We will rely on you to:
- Be a trusted custodian of the Target Operating Model (TOM) for Data & Analytics projects as defined by the core Marine Data & Analytics projects implementation team in consultation with technical Centres of Excellence across the wider Marsh group.
- Monitor the inflow of key documentation and data feeds. Underpinned by a willingness to intervene where necessary, coach local/international contacts to facilitate effective relationships and prioritize co-operative problem solving wherever practicable.
- Act as a first line of contact for marine vessel screening and other analytical queries, escalating to appropriate colleagues and senior management as required.
- Take on “Super User” responsibilities for dashboards/platforms that are developed in conjunction with internal/external dedicated teams and providers.
- Develop and test dashboards for broader business use. Gather feedback for enhancements and contribute to discussions regarding the product development roadmap.
- Collaborate with other data/analytics teams across the Marsh business to uncover opportunities to establish best practices wherever attainable.
What you need to have:
- Educated to degree level in a Business, Scientific or Mathematical relevant subject area. Alternatively, equivalent demonstrable analytics experience or certifications (e.g. Coursera/Datacamp, Microsoft/PowerBI) will be considered.
- Proficiency across all standard Microsoft Office suite products with an emphasis on MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Data Visualisation tools such as; Qlik/PowerBI/Tableau. The ability to adapt rapidly to learn new tools/processes and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- A willingness to immerse yourself in the marine insurance sector to underpin your ability to navigate complex activities with curiosity and enthusiasm.
