Mercer is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Communications Consultant to join our Impact team. The primary focus of this role is pension communications, supporting Senior Consultants in delivering client communication strategies from initial contact through to final evaluation. You will be responsible for identifying communication requirements to engage pension scheme members effectively and collaboratively creating the necessary content.

While pension communications will be the initial focus, the role offers the opportunity to support wider business communications, contributing to a variety of projects across Marsh’s offerings.

We rely on you to:

  • Review, curate, and edit all communication collateral including letters, leaflets, articles, videos, presentations, and other materials, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and appropriate tone for pension scheme members and other audiences.
  • Support the development and delivery of strategic communication plans tailored to client needs, with a strong emphasis on pension scheme member engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, becoming a trusted partner for pension scheme communications.
  • Collaborate with wider Mercer teams to identify and pursue new communication opportunities beyond pensions.
  • Manage multiple projects efficiently, ensuring timely delivery within budget and to quality standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of communication processes and team efficiency.
  • Support new business proposals and pitches as required.

What you need to have:

  • Demonstrable passion for writing and highly developed writing skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels.
  • Experience or strong interest in pension communications, particularly defined benefit schemes and member options initiatives.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive and perceptive, with an understanding of the broader business context and client needs.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
