We are seeking an experienced Insurance Investment Banking Managing Director to join our Capital & Advisory team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in London with hybrid work requirements of at least three days a week in the office.

As Managing Director, you will lead and expand our M&A advisory and capital raising activities, driving strategic engagement with a broader range of smaller and mid‑sized clients aligned with Guy Carpenter’s strategic goals. You will oversee origination and participation in diverse transactions across start‑ups, MGAs, Insurtechs, Reciprocals, Regional, and Lloyd’s businesses in both primary and reinsurance markets, while leading advisory teams in London and New York to maintain a collaborative culture.

We will count on you to:

  • Lead and expand M&A/strategic advisory and capital raising activities, increasing engagement with a broader client base including smaller and mid‑sized companies.
  • Originate and participate in a wide range of transactions including start‑ups, MGAs, Insurtechs, Reciprocals, Regional, and Lloyd’s businesses across primary and reinsurance markets.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to broaden GC’s investor coverage to include sovereign wealth funds, pensions, endowments, family offices, private equity, hedge funds, and asset managers.
  • Lead and mentor advisory teams in London and New York, fostering a close, collegiate, and collaborative culture.
  • Navigate potential conflicts with broking businesses through high‑level communication and stakeholder management.
  • Assess, structure, and execute M&A and capital raising transactions including buy‑side and sell‑side deals, joint ventures, and new company formations.
  • Present strategic and financial analyses to senior insurance and reinsurance clients.
  • Project manage third‑party service providers including legal counsel, actuarial firms, rating agencies, and other consultants.
  • Support colleagues on ILS/sidecar transactions and legacy solutions.

What you need to have:

  • At least 15 years of insurance capital raising and M&A advisory experience, including new company formation, strategic advisory, and M&A execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Expertise in analytical and regulatory requirements of securities transactions with a proven track record of successful M&A and capital raising projects.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills including M&A modeling, financial impact analysis, and insurance accounting.
  • Extensive pre‑existing network and excellent reputation across global (re)insurance and capital markets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience advising C‑suite executives and collaborating across departments.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.
