We are recruiting three Insurance Business Development Executives (BDEs) to grow Marsh’s SME commercial segment in Witham and Worcester.

Each BDE will focus on direct-to-client acquisition and the fast, repeatable placement of commercial risks with premiums between 5,000 and 20,000. The role prioritises Commercial Combined, Contractors, and general commercial product lines, requiring strong prospecting, quoting, and disciplined pipeline management.

You’ll manage your own schedule and priorities — an independent role with lots of freedom and ownership. This is a hybrid role requiring you to work at least four days a week on the road or in the office. Possibility to work from our Bristol office.

We will count on you to:

  • New business: Source, qualify and convert direct client opportunities (5k–20k).
  • Fast sales: Move deals quickly with disciplined qualification, quoting and follow-up.
  • Smooth handover: Provide clear handovers to servicing teams and support retention in month 0–12.
  • Market intel: Feed insurer appetite and market insight into product development.
  • Relationships: Build direct client and introducer/referral partnerships that drive leads.
  • Compliance: Keep accurate records and follow Marsh policies.

What you need to have:

  • 12+ months in commercial insurance sales (broker/MGA/insurer) with proven results.
  • Great at winning new business and keeping a steady pipeline for high-volume, low-prem accounts.
  • Know Commercial Combined, Contractors and similar lines in the 5k–20k band.
  • Comfortable with quoting portals, open-market placements, delegated authority or panel work.
  • Brilliant at prospecting, owning your diary and hitting targets.
  • Strong negotiator, numerate and commercial-minded.
  • Full UK driving license and happy to travel locally.

What makes you stand out:

  • Experience building direct-to-client sales channels or referral relationships.
  • Industry qualifications (Cert CII / DipCII) or working towards them.
  • Experience with digital placement and high-volume quoting processes.

Why join our team:

  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work, and supportive leaders.
  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have an impact on colleagues, clients, and communities.
  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
