The Data Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting our brokers by developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and systems that facilitate the evaluation of client portfolios, structuring of reinsurance programs, and conducting comprehensive portfolio-wide analytics.

What can you expect?

• Collaborate with our model vendor to enhance our analytics tools and infrastructure.
• Design, implement, and maintain data models and databases that support reinsurance analytics and reporting.
• Identify opportunities for process automation and optimisation to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in reinsurance and data engineering.
• Work closely with clients to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data throughout the data lifecycle.
• Occasional travel may be required.

We will count on you to:

• Design and implement data collection and processing systems.
• Cleanse, transform, and manipulate data to prepare it for analytical tools.
• Populate and maintain our analytics tools, ensuring they are tested for errors and inconsistencies.
• Develop and maintain model documentation, parameterization, and default probabilities.
• Collaborate with external providers to enhance and update our modelling framework.
• Create new data solutions to enhance our peer review capabilities.
• Liaise with analytics specialists across the division to ensure data alignment and integrity.
• Enhance and develop reporting capabilities, including the use of Power BI and other visualisation tools.
• Embrace and utilise big data by leveraging internal and external data sources and systems.
• Contribute to enhancing the division’s skills and knowledge in the usage of analytics.

What you need to have:

• A solid understanding of insurance or reinsurance is essential.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• Familiarity with SQL for database querying and manipulation.
• Proficiency in Python and other programming languages relevant to data engineering.
• Understanding of credit, surety, and political risk from underwriting or broking perspectives.
• An innovative and creative mindset.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• A client-focused approach.
• Effective communication skills.
