Equine Sales & Nutrition Advisor

The purpose of this role is to drive profitable growth of Spillers TM range of products by providing nutritional solutions and product recommendations to horse owners/trainers/riders in the leisure and competition sector. The role is key to creating mutual and sustainable working relationships with a variety of end user customers and key influencers including professional competition customers and leisure horse owners.
What are we looking for?
- Strong equine Industry knowledge and ideally networked within the professional competition sector.
- Passion for and a good understanding of equine nutrition.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management and communication skills.
- Comfortable working effectively either alone or in a small team.
- A flexible approach to working hours ; evening and some weekend work is required.
- Full driving licence.
- Numerate, financially literate with a sound commercial sense and bottom-line focus.
- Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- The role is field based and requires driving and standing with customers during visits and on yards. There is also the need to occasionally lift a portable horse weigh bridge which consists of 3 sections approx. 12kg each and on occasions 20kg bags of horse feed.
- Sales experience is useful but not essential.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- To drive incremental sales growth of Mars Horsecare products by providing nutritional solutions and product recommendations to horse owners in the leisure and competition industry, both on yard through feeding consultations, on trade stands, through webinars, talks or presentations, by phone or in writing.
- To maintain existing customer relationships, managing feed deals and ensuring the continued profitably and effectiveness of these relationships.
- To build relationships and network with professional riders in all disciplines looking for new opportunities to convert and drive new growth.
- Responsible for effective TE budget management to deliver the most profitable ROI.
- Provide nutritional advice and product recommendations via email and telephone on behalf of the MHUK Care-Line approximately 5 days per period, demonstrating empathy and building mental availability of the MHUK brands.
- To participate in formal sales management process, including goals, targets, KPIs, best practice, success models and Personal Development Plans.
