Are you an apprentice trained Workshop Technician who can machine using a manual lathe and TIG weld who is interested in working a 9 day fortnight?

MARS is working with a specialist manufacturer in the Swindon area who is looking to recruit a Workshop Technician responsible for manufacturing, assembling, and testing their impressive systems. The Workshop Technician's duties include precision machining, fabrication, and hot works such as MiG/TiG welding and brazing. If you’re a Machinist who can weld, or a multi-skilled apprentice trained Workshop Technician, who enjoys variety in their job role, then this is definitely the career move for you.

About you:

The successful Workshop Technician will be a Time Served Machining Technician / Mechanical Engineer / Fitter (City and Guilds, NVQ level 3 or equivalent).

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years post Apprenticeship in a similar role.
  • Manufacturing components and assemblies for commercial sale.
  • Welding / brazing (advantageous).
  • Manual machining of components using centre-lathes, turret mills, pillar drills etc.
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Skills

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacture components.
  • Proficient with measuring instruments (micrometres, vernier callipers).
  • Good working knowledge of Standards, limits and fits.
  • Mig / Tig welding would be advantageous.
  • Strong practical problem-solving skills.
  • Driving Licence.

Our client is offering an excellent salary of £40,000pa - £42,000pa plus 25 days holiday, a good pension scheme, private medical, and the chance to work a 9 day fortnight.
