A once in a lifetime opportunity has arisen for a Senior Wireless Communications Engineer to have a major impact in the development of next generation wireless communications which will revolutionise several key industries.
Our client is an early stage, fast paced, independently funded start up, with strong links to the University of Oxford. Led by a talented team with considerable sector experience and specialist subject knowledge, their mission is to enable safe and efficient communication systems which will ultimately protect our way of life. By joining them, the Senior Wireless Communications Engineer will create a substantial impact by developing critical technology that will save lives and ensure our society remains safe in an ever-changing world.
This role will primarily involve designing and implementing advanced wireless communication algorithms with a focus on PHY and data-link layer technologies. Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting system-level modelling and simulation using MATLAB for floating-point algorithm development;
- Implementing floating and fixed-point algorithms in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems;
- Analysing and optimising signal processing tasks, such as modulation, demodulation, channel estimation, equalisation, and synchronisation;
- Prototyping and validating algorithms using Software Defined Radios (SDRs);
- Collaborating with other systems and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of new designs and optimised performance;
- Documenting designs, simulations, and test results, and contributing to technical reports.
Essential experience & skills:
- Master’s or Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Communications, Signal Processing, or a related field;
- Strong proficiency in using MATLAB, C/C++, and Python to develop and evaluate communication algorithms and solutions;
- Excellent working knowledge of PHY technologies (e.g., OFDM, MIMO, CDMA);
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills;
- Knowledge of and/or interest in supporting the UK Defence and Security domains.
Desirable experience & skills:
- 5+ years of experience in wireless communication systems design and development;
- Expertise in one or more of the following as applied in communication settings: digital signal processing, error-correcting codes, deep neural networks;
- Proficiency in C++ for fixed-point implementation and performance optimisation;
- Experience with SDR platforms and real-time prototyping.
