Lead Software Engineer (C++/Python/Linux)

Location: Oxfordshire (Hybrid).

Salary: £70,000pa – £75,000pa plus benefits.

Our client is at the forefront of scientific research industry, developing instrumentation and tools to aid ground‑breaking science.

Responsibilities

  • Technically lead and mentor Software Engineers using C++ and Python on Linux.
  • Pass on knowledge and experience to nurture future Engineers.
  • Design and implement architectural solutions to meet evolving technical requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Inspire, influence and drive alignment while fostering a positive and innovative team culture.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Software Engineering, Mathematics or a Science/Materials subject.
  • Experience in Linux‑based software application development using modern C++.
  • Experience with network and other communication buses.
  • Experience with tools such as CMake.

Work arrangement

Hybrid working with 3 days in the Oxfordshire office and 2 days from home. Flexible start and finish times.
