A world leader in the design and manufacturing of high-tech scientific instrumentation is looking to recruit a Materials Coordinator to manage engineering change, control of subcontract processes, purchasing and shipping.

If you work within materials and enjoy a variety of different areas that relate to it, then this role would perfectly suit you, as it covers engineering change, subcontract processes, purchasing and shipping.

Day to day responsibilities of the Materials Coordinator:

  • Receive notification of ECN, Process ECN - add, amend, remove parts on Methods of Manufacturing and Jobs
  • Identify components and assemblies requiring subcontract processing, using ERP system
  • Liaise with Production and Stores to prepare components and assemblies
  • Request quotations and raise purchase orders for subcontract processes, consolidating requirements to maintain cost effectiveness
  • Arrange shipments to subcontract suppliers
  • Completion of jobs upon receipt of shipping route cards
  • Management of incoming and outgoing shipments, both through courier and freight forwarders; including preparation of shipping documents and customs invoices, getting quotations for shipments and arranging the shipment
  • Liaise with freight forwarders and couriers to clear imports through customs
  • Raise purchase orders on the ERP system and sending to suppliers
  • Check order confirmations against requirements and expediting

The successful Materials Controller will need the following experience and skills:

  • Background in office environment (preferably manufacturing / engineering)
  • Ability to cope with changing priorities and work under pressure
  • Experience with an ERP system
  • Experience in procurement in an engineering environment
  • Shipping experience
