As part of the Multi-omics & Systems Biology team, the Senior Computational Biologist will lead research that applies multi‑omics and systems biology to deepen understanding of pet health, identify new biomarkers, and support translational science for improved pet care.
- Lead the design, execution and delivery of systems biology projects, including integrated multi‑omics analyses.
- Partner with stakeholders across Mars Petcare to define high‑value data science opportunities.
- Champion data‑driven research and uphold high scientific standards.
- Share expertise in data management, analysis methods and best practices.
- Act as a subject matter expert in omics data integration and systems biology across the research portfolio.
- Work with data generated in‑house, through collaborations, and across Mars Veterinary Health.
- Combine public datasets with proprietary knowledge to maximise scientific insights.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or a related quantitative field, plus relevant postdoctoral or industry experience.
- Experience with biological network and pathway databases.
- Solid grounding in statistics, data mining and machine learning for omics.
- Expertise in pipeline development (Python/R), GitHub and CI/CD.
- Ability to communicate complex science to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong planning, influencing and leadership skills, especially in ambiguous or cross‑functional settings.
