The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Mars factory in Birstall. We’re looking for a hands-on Area Leader to deliver TPM/AM and Operational Excellence projects on production lines, training and coaching operators to adopt new standards. They lead improvement events, track KPIs, and drive consistent ways of working while collaborating with teams at all levels to embed sustainable operational improvements.

What We’re Looking For
- Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing or production environment, with the ability to coach, direct and develop operators.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills, able to identify issues, drive root-cause analysis and support continuous improvement activity.
- Good understanding of safety, food hygiene and quality standards, ideally including IOSH Managing Safely, Food Hygiene Level 3, and HACCP knowledge.
- Competent with computer systems, able to record data, raise work orders, complete documentation and communicate effectively with other teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to give clear instruction, support team engagement and manage effective handovers.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver TPM/AM and Operational Excellence projects by deploying new standards and ways of working on production lines.
- Train, coach, and supervise operators, technicians, and OSMs to embed new practices and support capability building.
- Lead daily and weekly line interventions and improvement events aligned to project goals.
- Track, measure, and report progress against key KPIs and project milestones across multiple forums.
- Ensure changes are locked into standardised ways of working using process confirmation steps.
- Build strong relationships, ensuring consistent communication and effective stakeholder engagement.
