Mars Wrigley has embarked on a multi-year digital transformation program called Supply Chain Data & Analytics (SCDA) that spans Supply, Commercial, R&D, and the untapped intersections between the functions. SCDA is creating an E2E supply chain where decisions are powered by advanced analytics. The Digital Foundry within SCDA supports this by building working data & analytics products that Associates use to make better business decisions.
The Digital Foundry is recruiting a transformation Global Product Owner, a key role within an advanced analytics Product Squad that is empowered to own solution design and delivery advancing the Product Roadmap within a pillar of SCDA. This transformation role aims to support a 36-month transformation program and will be focused primarily on the reinvention and enhancement of the digital acceleration effort ongoing at Mars. This role has a strong potential to transition into a permanent Mars role prior to the conclusion of the transformation period, where appropriate.
This role operates in an overall analytics Product ecosystem within an SCDA strategic domain (or, “petal’, e.g. Resilience, E2E Planning, New Fulfillment Models). Day-to-day, they will work very closely with other members of the Product squad (Development Lead, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Local Product Champion from the operation). They are the linchpin that brings the team together to deliver a Product that creates value. They can talk to users about their supply chain challenges in one meeting, then discuss algorithms with developers in the next. They are the face of the Product to the user community, listening to their needs and ensuring that the Product can embed in the users’ ways of working. They will also be supported by a Product Manager, who steers the vision and strategy for the Products that the squad is developing.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data analytics, data science, mathematics, statistics, or related field. Master’s degree a plus.
- Analytics foundation – understanding of the different types of analytics, awareness of algorithms in machine learning and operations research, numerical and digital literacy.
- Experience in delivery management of analytical products, or awareness of the drivers of complexity within delivery.
- Hands-on experience with writing code (e.g., SQL, Python) or data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) a plus.
- Strength in business-to-science translation to enable partnering with business teams and technology teams in bringing analytics product ideas to life.
- Product mindset – intellectual curiosity, ability to tie features to value, relentless focus on product adoption.
- Practitioner experience in the supply chain domain a plus.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- The Global Product Owner has primary accountability for delivering data & analytics Product Releases that advance a Product Manager’s roadmap.
- Makes decisions on design features.
- Translates features to stories.
- Defines technical specs, acceptance criteria, and timing.
- Connects voices of product users and developers.
- Speaks both operations & technology (including advanced analytics) with moderate proficiency.
- Asks questions of users and developers to uncover latent decisions and needs the Product will support.
- Creates space for development teams to innovate and generate new IP.
