As a key member of the W London Talent Resources team, this role supports the daily operations of the Talent Resources Office, including recruitment, total compensation, talent development, learning, and performance culture. The position plays a critical role in delivering HR services that anticipate and exceed the needs of our Talent, drive operational excellence, and strengthen W London’s bold, inclusive, and innovative culture. In addition to core HR responsibilities, this role holds strategic accountability for the property’s Learning & Development (L&D) strategy, ensuring training programs are aligned with brand standards, business priorities, and the W ethos. The role also facilitates training and learning experiences to elevate talent capability, leadership effectiveness, and service excellence across the hotel. The HR leader ensures compliance with all laws, regulations, and operating procedures at both the Marriott International and local property level.
YOUR ROLE IN THE SPOTLIGHT
- Managing Recruitment and Hiring Processes
- Assists with interviewing and hiring HR team members and property-level talent.
- Maintains strong relationships with external recruitment partners and sources.
- Represents W London at job fairs and career events; ensures accurate documentation of outreach efforts per HR SOPs.
- Builds networks with local hospitality organisations and talent communities to support present and future hiring needs.
- Oversees the candidate identification, assessment, and selection process to ensure quality and consistency.
- Provides selection process guidance to department leaders and hiring managers.
- Partners with advertising vendors to ensure effective and diverse attraction strategies.
- Conducts quality control checks on candidate pipelines and selection decisions.
- Administering and Educating Talent Benefits
- Partners with unemployment services providers, responds to claims, and audits claim reports for accuracy.
- Prepares and distributes unemployment claim activity updates to hotel leadership.
- Represents the property at unemployment hearings as required.
- Ensures HR tools, systems, and resources are available and properly utilised to administer employee benefits.
- Managing Talent Development & Learning Strategy
- Learning & Development Strategy Oversight
- Develops, maintains, and executes a property-wide Learning & Development strategy aligned with W London’s culture, service philosophy, and business objectives.
- Identifies skills gaps, training needs, and learning priorities in collaboration with department heads and the ExCom team.
- Uses data and insights (GSS, talent reviews, performance trends) to shape L&D priorities and training calendars.
- Training Facilitation
- Personally facilitates training sessions, workshops, and brand programs as needed (service culture, onboarding, leadership development, compliance training, etc.).
- Ensures engaging, modern training delivery aligned with W brand energy and Marriott learning standards.
- General Training Responsibilities
- Supports and continuously enhances the W London orientation experience to create a vibrant, memorable first impression for new Talent.
- Ensures all new hires receive required onboarding and departmental training.
- Oversees coordination and delivery of all property training initiatives.
- Ensures leadership participation and accountability in new hire orientation and training programs.
- Ensures cross-training opportunities exist to support business needs and talent mobility.
- Utilises available on-the-job training tools and resources to support consistent skill development.
- Maintaining Talent Relations
- Supports effective employee communication channels, including daily communications, digital updates, and property-wide meetings.
- Reviews progressive discipline documentation for completeness, accuracy, and fairness.
- Uses an open-door approach to proactively address concerns and maintain positive workplace relationships.
- Escalates issues appropriately to Department Heads or the Director of Human Resources.
- Partners with Loss Prevention on employee incident investigations.
- Reinforces performance standards and expectations aligned with job descriptions and brand talent philosophy.
- Managing Legal and Compliance Practices
- Ensures employee files contain all required employment documentation and are maintained securely for appropriate retention periods.
- Ensures proper access, review, and auditing procedures are followed in compliance with privacy and legal requirements.
- Maintains confidential medical files in accordance with data protection regulations.
- Facilitates drug testing programs where applicable.
- Communicates property rules and policies via the employee handbook and other channels.
- Ensures ongoing communication of safety and security policies and participates in the property Safety Committee.
- Works with Regional Claims to monitor and close claims in a timely manner.
- Manages Workers’ Compensation claims, ensuring appropriate care and cost management.
- Oversees selection/non-selection documentation and ensures candidates receive proper status updates.
