W Edinburgh is hiring an Events Sales Manager to join the team! With W Edinburgh winning the coveted “Scottish Hotel of the Year 2025” award and entering the Forbes Travel Guide with a prestigious “Recommended” rating for 2026, now is the perfect time to join the team and take your career to the next level. Please note the anticipated duration of this contract is 12 months, starting in June 2026.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Events Sales Manager is responsible for managing the hotel’s event sales strategy across the property, including its meeting and event spaces, rooftop, SUSHISAMBA restaurant, W Lounge and Joaou’s Place bars, sound studio and bedroom suites. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented and adaptable! As Events Sales Manager, key aspects of your role will include:
- A workload which comprises 50% proactive and 50% reactive sales activity
- Identify, qualify and solicit new catering business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
- Proactively solicit affiliate business associated with citywide events.
- Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them.
- Maximize revenue by up-selling packages and creative food and beverage offerings.
- Respond to incoming catering opportunities for the hotel.
- Close the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and hotel needs.
- Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
- Design, develop, and sell creative catered events.
- Develop and manage catering sales revenue and operation budgets, and provide forecasting reports.
- Develop a close working relationship with operations to ensure execution of strategies at the hotel level.
- Work with the property’s Beverage and Food team to develop menus that drive sales.
- Execute exemplary guest service to drive guest satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the guest and ensuring their satisfaction before, during and after their program/event.
- Play a significant role in training and mentoring junior members of the team.
- Empower your team to resolve guest issues independently and with confidence.
- Be a W brand ambassador, ensuring the brand’s voice is present in your interactions with guests and talent.
