As Marqeta’s Key Account Executive based in London, you will be passionate about scaling the success of our business in Europe. You will work across business and technical engagements, spanning multiple areas:

  • Cultivating and managing relationships with executives seeking to innovate and disrupt B2B & consumer payments.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders in Product, Legal, Compliance and Delivery to define solutions.
  • Originating new customer opportunities, responding to inbound opportunities, and shepherding deals from opening through to contract and closing.

Responsibilities

  • Closing and launching enterprise customers: identify, close and onboard new customers; manage back‑end processes including Salesforce rigor, reporting, financial modeling and internal approvals.
  • Qualify leads and prioritize the right opportunities: serve as primary point of contact, identify needs, respond to requests, and vet prospects against current and future product offering.
  • Run a sales process end‑to‑end: manage customer opportunities from engagement to scoping to contract negotiations; support account growth, renewal and new opportunities in Salesforce.
  • Contracting: work with Legal to shepherd opportunities through the contracting process, including negotiation and execution.
  • Know the tech: quickly understand Marqeta’s technical and programme management capabilities, unique features and customer benefits; speak with confidence and credibility about the platform.
  • Sell the partnership vision: collaborate with internal SMEs to develop solutions for prospects.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in sales and/or strategic business development; payments, investment banking or strategic consulting backgrounds preferred.
  • Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem and card issuing; bonus points for regulated programme manager experience.
  • Strong familiarity with fintech ecosystem, B2B technology applications and how platforms serve customer businesses.
  • Financial acumen: ability to evaluate and model complex deal structures.
  • Confidence in representing Marqeta to C‑suite executives and senior leadership.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and deliver on multiple projects simultaneously; highly motivated and able to work against aggressive schedules.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving skills with cross‑functional delivery focus.
  • Superior communication skills (interpersonal, verbal, email, presentation); orchestrate sales process and manage resources.
  • Positive attitude, team player, adaptable, resourceful, and self‑starter.

Hybrid Work Arrangement

The role is hybrid and requires employees to be based within 35 miles of our London office. You will work on‑site two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday) with the flexibility to work remotely on other days.
