25-30 hours per week (working over 3-4 days). We are looking to recruit a Patient Services Receptionist / Administrator to join our Patient Services Support Team. We are seeking someone who is organized, works well in a team, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will be the first point of contact to patients attending the practice, via telephone and via online consultation systems.
The role involves providing a variety of reception and administrative patient-facing functions, including:
- Telephone answering
- Managing patient records
- Processing prescriptions
- Scanning
- Word processing
- Responding to patient queries
The right candidate will be hardworking, flexible and keen to learn new skills, with the following background:
- Experience dealing with the public
- Experience working in General Practice / similar environment
- Strong organisational, administration and time management skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Experience of using Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel
Applicants should live within easy travelling distance of Marple and Romiley, and be able to work flexibly across both practice sites in Marple and Romiley. Experienced candidates who have worked in General Practice and used EMIS clinical system are desirable; however, full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job include:
- Telephone handling to patients and other health care workers
- Opening up / locking up of Practice premises
- Appointment management
- Processing prescriptions
- Clinical record management and coding
- New patient registrations
- Clinical service management
- Actioning tasks from the clinicians

Marple Cottage Surgery & Guywood Practice is a busy GP surgery in Stockport with approximately 11,400 patients. We are committed to providing excellent care to our patients across our two practice sites in Marple and Romiley.
