Shifts: Days | Monday-Friday | 40 hours per week

Hours: Staggered between 05:00-17:00

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer looking for a new opportunity with an established manufacturing business? We're recruiting for an Electrical Project Engineer to join a busy heavy engineering/foundry environment, responsible for maintaining, improving and optimising electrical plant and equipment across two manufacturing sites. You'll play a key role within the engineering team, ensuring equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently while supporting PPM, fault-finding, electrical projects, and continuous improvement.

The Role:

  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM), testing, inspection & routine electrical maintenance.
  • Electrical breakdown response, fault diagnosis & root-cause identification.
  • Fault finding on AC/DC systems, electrical control circuits & 3-phase power supplies.
  • Installation, maintenance, testing & repair of manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintain electrical equipment, wiring, motors & switches.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, circuit diagrams & LADDER diagrams.
  • PLC fault finding & control system troubleshooting.
  • Regular checks & maintenance of fire alarms and emergency lighting.
  • Identify projects to improve plant reliability, reduce costs & increase output/OEE.
  • Support development & scheduling of PPM and professional maintenance programs.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve issues quickly.
  • Identify recurring faults, recommend solutions & reduce downtime.
  • Manage critical electrical spares and liaise with suppliers/stockists.
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure permits, method statements & procedures are followed.
  • Maintain accurate records and high standards of health & safety and housekeeping.

What We're Looking For:

  • Apprentice-trained Electrical Engineer with relevant qualifications.
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation / 17th Edition Wiring Regulations or equivalent.
  • Heavy engineering, manufacturing or foundry experience.
  • Strong electrical fault finding, diagnostics & problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with electrical control circuits, 3-phase power & AC/DC systems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, circuit diagrams & LADDER diagrams.
  • PLC literate with industrial electrical installation and maintenance experience.
  • Experience carrying out PPM, testing, repairs & preventative maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong commitment to health & safety and continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility towards overtime and occasional weekend working.
