Maintenance Estimator – Salford Quays / Hybrid working available
Due to an extraordinary period of growth Marlowe Fire & Security are seeking a Maintenance Estimator who is a focused and enthusiastic individual with key attention to detail to support in the completion of our major bid opportunities and sales proposals.
The Maintenance Estimator will play a critical role in shaping our commercial success by creating precise and competitive pricing for Fire & Security maintenance contracts. This includes end-user contracts and framework agreements with facility management companies.
Main Responsibilities
You will be responsible for analysing costs, forecasting profitability, and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to prepare comprehensive pricing proposals. Your work will ensure Marlowe Fire & Security continues to offer value-driven solutions that meet client expectations and industry standards.
Cost Estimation & Financial Modelling
- Develop robust pricing models for Fire & Security maintenance services, incorporating labour, materials, subcontractor costs, compliance requirements, and overheads.
- Use advanced Excel techniques, including formula optimisation, pivot tables, and data visualisation, to create detailed estimates and summaries.
- Ensure all costings are accurate, competitive, and aligned with company profitability targets.
Collaboration & Coordination
- Collaborate with the Sales, Bids, and Operations teams to gather all necessary information for pricing and estimation.
- Work with Procurement to obtain accurate supplier and subcontractor rates.
- Validate maintenance schedules and workforce planning with the Operations team to ensure feasibility and compliance.
Client-Focused Proposal Development
- Customise pricing proposals to suit the unique requirements of individual clients, ensuring clarity and value.
- Address client queries related to costings, providing clear and professional responses.
- Support the Sales and Bids teams in client-facing presentations and negotiations where required.
Market Research & Trend Analysis
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market rates, and competitor offerings to ensure pricing remains competitive.
- Analyse historical data to inform pricing strategies and improve forecasting accuracy.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all pricing and proposals adhere to relevant Fire & Security industry regulations and internal company policies.
- Maintain organised records of estimates, proposals, and supporting documentation for audit and reference purposes.
Reporting & Approval Process
- Prepare detailed reports summarising cost breakdowns, profit margins, and risk assessments for internal review.
- Present pricing models and recommendations at \”Authority to Submit\” meetings with senior stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improving the efficiency and accuracy of the pricing process.
- Contribute to the development of tools, templates, and systems that enhance the Estimation function.
- Share insights and best practices with the wider team to foster a culture of innovation.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in estimating, pricing, or financial modelling within the Fire & Security, facilities management, or a similar technical services industry.
- Strong understanding of Fire & Security maintenance services, frameworks, and compliance standards.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and estimation tools is an advantage.

- Ideally educated to Higher Education level (or equivalent).
