An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and service-orientated Pharmacy Technician to work within our friendly Pharmacy Team in a large and progressive GP practice serving 39,000 patients. Using your clinical and technical knowledge of medicines management processes to help resolve medication-related queries, work as part of a multidisciplinary team, improve patient outcomes and support the improvement of access to healthcare. Assist with medication safety monitoring systems and audits. Process discharge/clinic letters from secondary care, medicines reconciliation and optimisation activities while supporting the Practice to deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy services.

Main duties of the job

  • Delivery of clinical pharmacy services including processing discharge/clinic letters from secondary care
  • Perform medicines improvement work to maximise safe, cost-effective best practice in prescribing under the supervision of the clinical pharmacist/s
  • Assist with medication safety monitoring systems (e.g. high-risk drugs)
  • Liaise with clinicians and administrative staff to resolve medicine-related queries
  • Monitor practice prescribing and adherence to the PCNs policies, included but not limited to any other local and national prescribing policies and guidelines
  • Improve service and quality through mechanisms such as audits
  • Support the clinical pharmacists in Structured Medication Reviews
  • Good understanding of Pharmacy Technician working
  • A Pharmacy Technician with prior experience working as a Practice Pharmacy Technician focussed on delivering excellent clinical care.

Qualifications

Essential: The ideal candidate will demonstrate confidence to contact patients and carers to provide advice and information. They will need to be able to work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams to meet the needs of our patients. Applicants must have a pharmacy technician qualification (NVQ level 3 equivalent). NHS or GP practice experience is desirable. Excellent communication and good IT skills are required. You will be actively encouraged and supported at each stage of your development to optimise your potential.
