We are partnering with several leading buy-side firms in London who are looking to hire highly talented Junior Quant Researchers to join their investment and trading teams. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of systematic investing, alpha research, and data-driven decision-making, contributing directly to strategy development and portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative research to identify and develop new trading signals and strategies
- Analyse large and complex datasets to extract actionable insights
- Build and improve statistical and machine learning models for alpha generation
- Backtest strategies and evaluate performance, robustness, and risk characteristics
- Collaborate closely with portfolio managers, data scientists, and engineers
- Support the enhancement of research infrastructure and data pipelines
- Stay up to date with academic research and market developments
Candidate Profile
Education
- First-class degree (or equivalent) in a STEM discipline from a top-tier university e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar
- Strong preference for candidates with advanced degrees (MSc or PhD) from leading institutions
Technical Skills
- Strong programming ability in Python (essential)
- Experience with data analysis libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy)
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques is highly desirable
- Familiarity with statistics, probability, and optimisation methods
- Experience with SQL or large datasets is a plus
Experience
- Internship or up to 2 years of experience in a quantitative, research, or data-focused role
- Exposure to financial markets, systematic trading, or asset management is beneficial but not required
