Our client, a leading organisation within the energy and transmission sector, is looking for an experienced Technical and Engineering Director to join their senior leadership team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic technical leadership, shaping engineering direction, governance frameworks, and risk management practices
- Overseeing the performance, maintenance, and integrity of HVDC systems, including converter stations and cable infrastructure
- Leading and developing a high-performing engineering function, ensuring effective delivery across operations, projects, and commercial interfaces
- Driving collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners to optimise asset performance and project outcomes
- Ensuring compliance with UK and European regulatory standards while embedding a strong health, safety, and quality culture
You will need to have the following experience:
- Extensive experience within the energy or transmission sector, with deep expertise in HVDC systems and infrastructure
- Proven leadership of engineering or technical teams within large-scale infrastructure or asset-heavy environments
- Strong understanding of grid systems, converter technologies, and transmission interface requirements
- Commercial acumen, including experience managing engineering contracts, suppliers, and technical negotiations
- Degree-qualified in Electrical or Power Engineering (or equivalent), with Chartered Engineer status advantageous
