We’re looking for a proactive
Health & Safety Manager to join our team at Portsmouth Dockyard team to support the delivery of high‑quality SHEQ standards across the business.
You’ll play a hands‑on role in keeping people safe, shaping best practice, and helping us maintain a culture where safety always comes first.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the planning, implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality activities.
- Carrying out risk assessments, site inspections and accident/incident investigations.
- Recording and maintaining accurate SHEQ documentation.
- Delivering induction training and internal SHEQ training sessions.
- Conducting face‑fit testing and ensuring safe use of equipment.
- Presenting safety information to employees and managers.
- Liaising with customers, HSE and internal SHE teams.
- Ensuring compliance with current legislation.
- Assisting with audits, spot checks and yard checks.
- Promoting a positive safety culture across the organisation.
Qualifications
- Marine and MOD experience - essential.
- Experience of assessing high risk activities - essential.
- Thorough knowledge of confined space management - essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and a natural ability to identify hazards.
- Confidence in recommending practical risk‑reduction measures.
- Ability to hold
Tech IOSH status – essential.
- Additional qualifications such as ISO knowledge, PTLLS, Environmental Management or Internal Auditor – desirable.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Willingness to undertake further training and achieve SC Clearance.
