Marleybones is hiring a Head of Growth to lead our DTC growth as we scale our subscription business. This is a high-impact, senior role reporting directly to the founders. You’ll be responsible for shaping and executing an end-to-end growth strategy across acquisition, conversion, retention and revenue, working closely with Marketing, Creative and Product/E-com to drive sustainable growth.
We’re looking for someone who has a clear understanding of LTV:CAC optimisation, cohort retention curves, and churn prediction.
About Marleybones: Marleybones began when co‑founder Josephine struggled to find food that truly worked for her dog, Marley. We create Pantry Fresh® meals using freshly prepared ingredients that are gently cooked in pack to retain nutritional value. Our meals are shelf‑stable, require no freezing or preservatives, and are served in pantry‑friendly, planet‑friendly packaging - making fresh feeding simpler for modern dog owners. Together with our treats, supplements and tailored feeding plans, we help dogs get the nutrition they need to live healthier, happier lives. Through our DTC subscription model and partnerships with retailers including Waitrose, Co‑op, Whole Foods Market, Ocado and Amazon, we’re making high‑quality nutrition more accessible.
About the role: You’ll own DTC growth across the full funnel, with accountability for revenue, margin and long‑term value. This includes deciding which metrics to prioritise, from new customer acquisition and subscription conversion, to AOV, LTV and payback - and running a clear testing roadmap to accelerate performance over time. The role spans performance marketing, CRM, CRO, website optimisation and customer experience. You’ll work with a mix of in‑house teams and external partners to build a high‑performing, best‑in‑class DTC growth function suited to a premium, fast‑growing brand.
About your responsibilities:
- P&L ownership & growth planning: Be responsible for driving DTC revenue and margin growth. Support forecasting, budget planning and growth targets, working closely with the founders.
- Customer acquisition: Lead and optimise digital acquisition across paid media (Meta, Google, TikTok), social, SEO/GEO, influencers, affiliates and other scalable channels. Focus on acquiring high‑LTV subscribers efficiently and sustainably.
- Content collaboration: Work closely with Marketing and Creative to ensure content supports growth goals. Support initiatives such as up‑sells, new product launches to grow basket size and subscription value.
- Subscription retention & customer experience: Improve subscription conversion, retention and engagement through pricing, offers, lifecycle communication and customer journeys. Work closely with the wider team to ensure a clear experience for Marleybones customers.
- Website & conversion optimisation (CRO): Oversee UX/UI improvements, A/B testing and CRO initiatives to maximise conversion rates and optimise the end‑to‑end customer journey. Manage front‑end elements of our e‑com platform (Shopify / Skio) in partnership with internal teams and external specialists.
- Analytics & performance tracking: Own performance reporting across growth channels. Use data and insights to monitor performance, identify opportunities, and inform decision‑making.
- Innovation & new growth levers: Explore and test new channels, formats and tools to support growth. Stay close to emerging DTC trends, platforms and technologies relevant to Marleybones.
- Team & partner leadership: Lead the growth function, working with an in‑house team and external partners across paid media, CRO, lifecycle and web development. Set clear priorities, expectations and ways of working.
About you: Senior DTC growth leader from a subscription or repeat‑purchase business. Strong track record of driving growth through performance marketing. Deep experience with paid channels (Meta in particular, plus Google and TikTok; Amazon a plus). Strong working knowledge of CRM (Klaviyo), CRO and Shopify / Skio. Highly analytical and comfortable using data to guide decisions. Commercially minded with strong judgement around trade‑offs. Confident managing meaningful budgets and leading small teams. Comfortable working closely with agencies and external partners. Cares deeply about customer experience, brand quality and long‑term value. Thrives in fast‑moving, founder‑led environments. Brings high accountability and a strong standard of execution. Knowledgeable and keen interest in Generative AI (eg ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney) and marketing AI tools (eg Jasper, Copy.ai, Mutiny). Aligned with Marleybones’ mission and excited to build a premium, category‑defining brand.
Work with: You’ll work closely with the co‑founders, particularly Jo, and a growing Marketing team including especially our Growth Exec, Creative Lead, two Creative Strategists, Brand & Marketing Manager and Customer Success. You’ll also help shape and build the wider growth function as we scale.
Tools: Meta, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, Klaviyo, Shopify, Skio, GA, experimentation tools, and strong spreadsheet / analytics capability.
What we offer: Pension with NEST. Private health insurance through Vitality. EMI Options Scheme so you can invest in the growth you build at such an early, exciting stage. Flexible working (3 days per week in our Battersea office). 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays + your birthday off. Pawternity leave (3 days). MacBook/PC and required tech. Dog‑friendly office and regular team socials.
