SIPS education is a not-for-profit organisation based in the Black Country. Our knowledge of local communities in the area makes us unique as a specialist support services provider in the education sector. SIPS Education Catering Services are looking to recruit a dedicated Van Driver to ensure the smooth delivery of school meals across Sandwell, Dudley and Birmingham areas.
Under the direction of the Area Manager - Logistics, you will assist and participate in the delivery of meals from production kitchens to serveries in a timely manner and be motivated to deliver the service effectively. The post is a 15-hour, Monday – Friday term-time plus days contract.
Key responsibilities:- To ensure the vehicle is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness both internal and external for suitability of food delivery, refuelling of vehicle and reporting of faults.
- Collection and delivery of meals, buffets and associated items within required timescales.
- Collection and distribution of stores items, equipment and post, to all SIPS Catering contracts.
- Required to transport kitchen staff between schools to provide emergency cover.
- Transfer of cash income from site to SIPS office.
- Stores maintenance to include collection of light equipment, stocktaking when necessary, and to ensure stores are organized, clean and tidy to accommodate stock.
- Route planning and reprioritising to ensure service delivery, efficiency and continuity.
- Periodic attendance at training courses during term time and school holidays when required to meet hygiene, health & safety standards and safeguarding appropriate to the post.
- To participate in the operation of SIPS Personal Performance Development Scheme.
- It is your responsibility to carry out your duties in line with SIPS policy on equality and be sensitive and caring to the needs of the disadvantaged, promoting a positive approach to a harmonious working environment.
- You should act as an exemplar on these issues and should identify and monitor training for yourself and any employees for whom you are responsible, in line with this policy and also the Equalities Act 2010.
- Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post to assist SIPS in the fulfilment of its objectives commensurate with the post holder's salary grade, abilities and aptitudes.
- The post holder must at all times carry out his/her responsibilities with due regard to the SIPS policy, organization and arrangements for Health and Safety at Work.
