Here at Marlborough Highways we are looking for an Operational Trainer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing the skills, safety, and compliance of our workforce across our growing business. Experience within highways is essential but this could be a great opportunity for someone within an operational role to move onto a new career path. You’ll be responsible for delivering, and continuously improving a wide range of training programmes and inductions, ensuring our employees and subcontractors are fully equipped to carry out their roles safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver in-house training courses including LANTRA Traffic Management and Cat & Genny
  • Deliver the weekly Corporate and Health and Safety induction to new employees and subcontractors ahead of starting their roles with Marlborough Highways
  • Create, develop and enhance training materials (including Delivery Plans, PowerPoint slides, supporting handouts and in-class activity sheets)
  • Deliver the quarterly Safe Delivery Briefings at various depots, alongside our senior leaders
  • Carry out on-site assessments for operatives who may require further support, as and when identified, by their supervisors
  • Ensure all training activities are logged and liaise with the wider Training team
  • Support the wider HR team by engaging with employees to support with HR-led initiatives and process changes

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Experience in a Trainer role preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of traffic management essential, including LANTRA Traffic Management tickets
  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to Marlborough depots to deliver training/assessments
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage site-based and office-based staff
  • Ability to manage groups and deliver training safely in live or simulated environments
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Experience working with apprentices, trainees or new entrants
  • Practical, solutions-focused and adaptable to the needs of the business
  • Comfortable working independently and across multiple sites
