Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced, driven Investment Sales Professional to identify strategic opportunities to promote Marlborough Group and generate new business flow into Marlborough Funds, products and solutions focused primarily (but not exclusively) on Multi – Asset and ACD. To identify, set up and maintain strategic relationships and partnership with financial advisers in the UK.

The role is required to both expand our UK adviser coverage but also to bring the right experience into the business to achieve our strategic growth vision by providing our clients with confidence that we can support and help manage their business effectively and efficiently and evidence that we have achieved the client firm and our objectives.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering an agreed business development plan for their allocated territory, panel or market segment.

This role will cover South West England with a desire for the successful applicant to be based in this area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver an agreed territory and panel plan, prioritising adviser and intermediary firms according to strategic fit, commercial potential, client need and opportunity.
  • Identifying Strategic Partnerships with particular emphasis on promoting fund opportunities.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of adviser firms’, wealth managers’, discretionary managers and strategic partners business models, client basis, investment propositions and growth objectives to identify opportunities where Marlborough products, services and solutions can support their needs.
  • Provide strategic insight and consultancy support to adviser firms and intermediary partners, helping them understand how Marlborough’s investment, ACD and multi asset solutions can support their business objectives and client outcomes.
  • Represent Marlborough at conferences, industry forums, roadshows, networking events and client meetings, acting as a professional ambassador for the Group.
  • Conduct group and one-to-one meetings to promote the Marlborough single strategy fund, MPS and Multi Asset product range.
  • Support the business with sales, marketing and product development ideas to increase brand and market penetration.
  • Work closely with Sales Support and Marketing teams to support the successful onboarding and implementation of new business opportunities.
  • Ensure all required due diligence, approvals and supporting documentation are complete before progressing new business arrangements.
  • Working with the Associate Director on key and ad hoc projects when required.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and timely records of firms, contacts, meetings, opportunities and agreed follow-up activity within the Group’s CRM system.
  • Develop and maintain an effective pipeline of new business opportunities, progressing leads through the appropriate sales stages and providing regular, accurate forecasts and activity reporting.
  • Contribute to the achievement of agreed individual and team commercial objectives, which may include new business flows, assets under management, quality of pipeline, adviser engagement, client retention and strategic relationship development.
  • Monitor progress against agreed-objectives and provide accurate and timely updates on activity, opportunities, risks and expected outcomes.
  • Ensure all presentations, communications, marketing materials, thought leadership content and financial promotions are used in accordance with Group policies, regulatory requirements and applicable approval processes.
  • Ensure product and service information is communicated clearly, fairly and in a manner that supports appropriate customer understanding and good customer outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting of business development activity.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent level standard.

  • A relevant industry-related qualification such as IMC, CII or CFA.

  • Previous related industry experience, ideally being able to demonstrate a track record of successfully promoting investment solutions.
  • Awareness of markets, services, products, competitors and industry trends.
