This role sits within the Warehouse Management team, supporting the Fashion, Home & Beauty (FH&B) Supply Chain & Logistics sub-domain, which is central to M&S's ambitious growth plans.

You will provide technical expertise, ship thoughtfully and operate with excellence as part of an empowered, self-managing, multi-disciplinary engineering team.

Working in partnership with Product and Delivery, you'll design, build, release and maintain products that solve complex business and customer challenges.

You will play a key role in driving our ambition to create a best-in-class software engineering team, environment and culture.

We are looking for people to join our engineering community to help shape this transformation, build a modern digital ecosystem using exciting technologies and do the best work of their careers.

Due to high interest, this role may close earlier than advertised. We recommend applying as soon as possible.

  • Drive the adoption of engineering standards, software development methodologies and best practices, providing technical leadership and guidance across complex programmes and initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for software quality, reliability, security and performance, ensuring products meet operational and business requirements.
  • Lead the team in improving engineering maturity, progressing towards and maintaining Elite DORA standards while embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Drive cloud‑first thinking, modernisation of the technology landscape and effective use of shared platforms to maximise value delivery across engineering teams.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, Programme Management and senior engineers to define roadmaps, prioritise technical investments and deliver scalable business solutions.

  • Strong advocate of Dev Ops principles and a "you build it, you run it" mindset, with a solid understanding of testing strategies, reliability engineering and operational excellence.
  • Outstanding people leadership, communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience leading senior engineers and technical partners towards successful outcomes without prescribing every solution, empowering teams to make effective engineering decisions.
  • A servant leadership mindset with a strong sense of ownership, accountability and the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.
