The Corporate Communications team sits at the centre of how M&S communicates its transformation, culture and strategic priorities. We work closely with teams right across the business - from Retail, People, Marketing and Digital & Tech to ESG and Investor Relations, to tell powerful stories internally and externally. From shaping national media narratives to crafting colleague facing content that inspires and informs, our team plays a crucial role in building trust, driving engagement and strengthening M&S's reputation. It’s a collaborative, fast moving environment where curiosity, creativity and strong influencing skills are essential, and where great storytelling has real impact.
We’re looking for a creative, proactive and commercially minded Corporate Communications Business Partner to help shape how we tell the story of M&S Fashion, Home & Beauty, one of the most exciting and fast moving parts of our business. As FH&B continues its transformation, this role is central to engaging colleagues, building belief in our strategy, and creating powerful external storytelling that drives trust, reputation and momentum. If you love turning strategy into compelling narratives, working at pace, and influencing how colleagues and external audiences understand our journey, this is a unique opportunity to make a real impact.
Important Note: This role does not involve product or Fashion PR. It focuses on strategic corporate storytelling - shaping reputation, communicating transformation, and driving colleague understanding and engagement.
To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected. Due to high interest, this role may close earlier than advertised. We recommend applying as soon as possible.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver strategic corporate communications that bring to life FH&B’s transformation, performance, ESG (Plan A) priorities and long term strategy for internal and external audiences.
- Create high quality internal communications that engage colleagues, build understanding of priorities, raises awareness of new campaigns and initiatives, and drive cultural change across the FH&B business.
- Develop and maintain communications plans, ensuring Monday.com and leadership materials (CEO report, Business Board decks, etc.) are kept updated and aligned to the FH&B agenda.
- Support content creation and story activation, working with the Communications Manager, Press Office and Content teams to produce and publish clear, engaging stories across internal and external channels (earned media and M&S News platforms).
- Build strong partnerships across Corporate Affairs, FH&B leadership, PR, Social, Marketing, Transformation and People teams, using insights tools like Signal AI to identify opportunities, monitor issues and enhance storytelling.
Who you’re looking for:
- An experienced communications professional (5+ years), ideally within retail or a large, complex organisation, with strong internal communications experience.
- An exceptional written communicator, able to craft clear, compelling messaging, strategic narratives and campaign plans.
- Comfortable working at pace, managing multiple priorities and thriving under pressure in a fast moving environment.
- Creative and content savvy, with experience producing or overseeing videos, blogs, infographics, events and other storytelling assets.
- Familiar with media relations, with some experience handling press or supporting leaders for journalist interactions (desirable, though not essential).
What’s in it for you?
- Working at M&S means being part of something bigger – helping to deliver quality, value and service to millions of customers every day.
- We’re inclusive, fast-moving and always evolving, with a strong sense of purpose and a focus on doing the right thing.
- 20% colleague discount on all M&S products and many third‑party brands for you and someone in your household, available once you’ve completed your probation.
- Competitive holiday allowance with the option to buy more.
- Discretionary bonus schemes linked to your performance and ours.
- Strong pension and life assurance to help plan for the future.
- Tailored induction and training to support your development from day one.
- Exclusive perks and savings through our M&S Choices portal.
- Market‑leading family policies, including parental, adoption and neonatal leave.
- 24/7 wellbeing support, including virtual GP access and mental health services.
- One paid volunteer day a year to support a cause that matters to you.
