We are currently seeking a Midweight Designer to join our talented team, on a Fixed Term Contract basis for 14 months. This is a hybrid role based in our Birmingham studio to work primarily on packaging design for one of the world's leading toy manufacturers. The packaging needs to inspire the shopper's imagination to build and play, so we are looking for someone who is a strong storyteller who can create compelling concepts.

You will be a valuable player in the Design Team, building your expertise across brand design, typography, illustration, photography, finishes and print processes. You'll be delivering great work to the brief time after time. You'll also be growing in creative confidence, outwardly presenting your ideas with conviction and clear rationale. What you'll do:

  • Working with Design Directorate and Senior Designers to understand the brief, brand guidelines, technical constraints for the project and aiding them guide junior team members
  • Challenging the brief, delivering the expected and the unexpected in your response
  • Effectively managing your time, collaborating with Resource Managers
  • Being a team player. Keeping the channels of communication open between Design, Client Service, Strategy and Operations teams, seeking guidance when things change
  • Adding value to internal design reviews, offering fresh perspective, giving feedback to executional consistency, art direction
  • Championing and following our file set up, file naming and server filing procedures
  • Pro-actively assisting the team, contributing to studio inspiration and design events

What you'll have:

  • 2-5 years experience within a Brand/Packaging Design agency in Design roles
  • Engaging & strong storytelling skills
  • Understanding of strategic, creative and commercial aspect of brands and the world they inhabit
  • Experience/Interest in art directing as you'll be working closely with the CGI team
  • A degree in Graphic Design, Product Design, Illustration or related field
  • Excellence in Adobe CC, (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Keynote but also understand the power of a sketch
