Responsible for the real-time execution of the transport plan, the role ensures great service for stores, distribution centres and customers while driving safe, efficient and sustainable transport solutions that support cost and emissions reduction. Working closely with third-party logistics partners, this role manages in-day transport activity, adapting plans to meet changing operational demands. Responsibilities include coordinating additional routes, reallocating resources, resolving service challenges and maintaining transport performance through stakeholder engagement, daily operational calls and the LPC Operations mailbox.

The role also offers the opportunity to build strong relationships across multiple sites, champion continuous improvement and influence operational excellence across the wider M&S logistics network. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and can make confident, real-time decisions using data from Power BI, transport management systems and operational communications. With experience in transport, warehousing or retail operations, the successful candidate will be a strong collaborator, able to build effective relationships across teams, third-party partners and stakeholders while keeping customer and business needs at the centre. A proactive, commercially aware approach is essential, with knowledge of transport subcontracting, budget management and transport systems advantageous.

This role is based out of our Bradford Fashion, Home & Beauty Distribution Centre at Bradford and shift pattern is Monday to Friday 8:00am to 16:00pm but flexibility is required to flex your days according to the business priorities.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Lead the in-day execution of the LPC Transport operation across key Northern distribution centres and third-party logistics partners, ensuring excellent service delivery.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Warehouse Operations teams to deliver volumes against the transport plan, providing clear communication and swift resolution when challenges arise.
  • Monitor and report on key performance metrics including service, cost and safety, escalating risks and keeping stakeholders informed of operational performance.
  • Build strong relationships with distribution centres, logistics partners and internal teams to drive continuous improvement and support operational excellence across the network.
  • Support effective transport planning through performance analysis, forecast reviews and resource optimisation, helping to improve fleet utilisation, reduce empty running and deliver sustainable efficiencies.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data from multiple sources and make effective real-time operational decisions.
  • Experience within a fast-paced transport, logistics, warehousing or retail environment, with a strong understanding of operational challenges and priorities.
  • Proven ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships across internal teams and third-party partners, driving collaboration and positive outcomes.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement, with the confidence to identify opportunities, influence change and support successful implementation.
  • Commercial and financial awareness, including knowledge of transport operations, subcontracting models and performance management, supported by experience using transport management systems and operational tools.
