As a Store Renewal Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering successful store openings, renewals, relocations and efficient closures. You’ll lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle of store transformation projects – from pre‑launch planning through to post‑launch evaluation – ensuring minimal customer disruption, operational excellence, and “Best in Class” launch standards. You’ll collaborate closely with Retail, Construction, Programme Management and Stores to deliver right‑first‑time execution and coach teams to embed M&S Way behaviours. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, commercial acumen, resilience, and experience delivering complex projects at pace.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Leading new store launches, renewals and relocations, ensuring smooth delivery and minimal customer disruption.
  • Planning and executing projects aligned to People, Process, Product & Place, ensuring right‑first‑time delivery of the Critical Path.
  • Coaching and guiding Regional and Store Managers through all stages of renewal, from Fit for Renewal through to PIR.
  • Coordinating internal and external stakeholders to maintain timelines, surface risks, and resolve challenges quickly.
  • Managing multiple live projects, creating and maintaining tools such as Critical Paths, Activity Planners and engagement materials.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Proven retail leadership experience with strong commercial judgement and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong planning, organisation and resilience, with the ability to manage ambiguity and deliver at pace.
  • Confident communicator able to influence senior stakeholders and coach colleagues at all levels.
  • Customer‑obsessed, ensuring customer impact informs all planning, phasing and renewal decisions.
  • Strong IT capability and ability to analyse MI to inform strategic and operational choices.
