Description
At M&S Food, customer insight helps us understand how shopping behaviour is changing and where the biggest opportunities are for the business.
As Senior Analyst, you’ll be a key member of the Customer Insight team, working closely with the Lead Analyst and wider insight specialists to turn data into clear, commercial recommendations.
You’ll use our customer and transactional data, advanced analytics and our Azure data platform to support analytical projects, build data products and help teams understand performance, opportunity and stretch.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about data, curious in their approach and confident building relationships across M&S.

What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include
- Support analytics projects that deliver accurate, actionable insight for the Food business in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Use customer and transactional data to help explain performance, see opportunities and support better customer-led decisions.
- Maintain and support core analytical benchmarks and reporting, including reports that use Power BI.
- Apply statistical and analytical techniques, such as regression and clustering, to deliver robust commercial analysis.
- Create clear, visual and engaging insight outputs, with a focus on automation and self-serve where it makes valuable contributions.
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include
- Strong statistical and analytical background, with experience working with large datasets and a range of models.
- Confident using SQL, with experience in Python, R or similar programming and statistical tools preferred.
- Naturally curious and data-driven, with the confidence to explore business problems and spot new opportunities.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, able to turn analysis into clear insight for different audiences.
- Organised, proactive and collaborative, with the ability to manage multiple projects and build strong partner relationships.
