As a Staff Software Engineer in Product and Commercial Trading, you will be a driving force behind the modernisation of critical systems for M&S, as we scale. As a technical leader, you will be collaborating with many multi-functional teams to design, build, and maintain the software that powers our warehouse operations. Your expertise will help us create a best-in-class engineering environment while ensuring our systems are robust, scalable, and reusable across our multiple warehouses.

What You’ll Do

  • Software Development: Develop, test, and debug software solutions to customise and optimise our warehouse management system (WMS), ensuring it can perform at scale, maintain data integrity, and integrate seamlessly with other critical systems in the estate.
  • Technical Leadership: Bring engineering excellence and modern tooling and practices to the Supply Chain space, providing expert guidance on sophisticated projects, ensuring that software solutions align both with our strategy, technology standards, and engineering best practice.
  • Architecture and Design: Lead the design of scalable and adaptable software architectures which support multiple, and differing, warehouse operations from a single codebase.
  • Code Review: Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure consistency to technical standards, maintainability, and high-quality code. Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration: Gain a deep understanding of our supply chain, working with key operations partners, product managers, and other engineers to be able to craft the most effective technical solutions.

Who You Are

  • Build and maintain high-quality, reliable software and own it with a high degree of automation in the cloud.
  • Take ownership for complex tasks in the backlog and deliver them routinely and can manage and address any significant issues.
  • Develop/improve M&S standard frameworks and policies, ensuring that they are understood and adopted.
  • Support other engineers to produce clean, quality code through code reviews and pair programming.
  • Drive DevOps practices to automate the Product development life cycle and solution through experimentation and innovation as a culture.

Tech Stack

  • Database Technologies including OracleDB, MongoDB.
  • Terraform, SpringBoot, Micronaut.
  • Java 11+ (preferred).
  • Queues - IBM MQ, Kafka.
  • Reporting built with Azure Data Factory and PowerBI.
