We are looking for a Product Technologist to join our Womenswear team, with responsibility for Tailoring and Autograph. Working cross-functionally across Merchandising, Marketing, Product Development and Design, through to Supply Chain and Space Planning, our shared mission is to deliver stylish wardrobe, home, and beauty essentials through an easy, inspiring shopping experience—both online and in store—that delights our customers every time.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Product Development Technologist to play a key role within our Womenswear function, contributing to the development of high-quality, customer-focused product across our Tailoring and Autograph ranges.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Technically accountable for department/departments and representing M&S technology externally and across the business.
  • Develop great quality product in collaboration with buying and design teams.
  • Developing junior members of the technical team.
  • Work with the Fit Development Studio, fit specialists, buying and design to deliver relevant blocks and seasonal trends incorporating customer feedback in the development, including Sourcing Offices and suppliers where relevant.
  • Critical path - ensure all technical deadlines are met in line with BU critical path and continually working to optimise Leadtime whilst maintaining product technical standards.
  • Risk assess new materials are appropriate for end use.
  • Manage adherence to product safety, compliance, and ethical standards in line with legislation and corporate policy.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Expert in the field of technology including patternmaking / fit and manufacturing of fabric / raw materials and promotional claims.
  • Capable of interpreting customer data to shape future product development strategy.
  • Experience of briefing and specifying direct design sourced product, working with Buying and Design teams to create Tech Packs.
  • Ability to manage departmental data and leverage M&S systems to enable strategic reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills within C&H Technical Function, Design and Buying, Supply Base and Global Sourcing Offices.
