Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Internal Audit & Risk (IA&R) team at M&S, where you’ll be at the heart of shaping how we do business. You’ll work across a wide range of areas in the UK and internationally, giving you real breadth and variety in your role. As a trusted advisor, you’ll review and challenge how the business operates, support improvements to the control environment, and make a tangible impact during an exciting period of transformation.

As an Internal Auditor, you’ll lead and deliver core risk-based audit activities from planning through to reporting. This is a wide-ranging role that gives you exposure to every part of M&S, working with business partners at all levels. You’ll assess the design and effectiveness of controls, identify improvements, and support continuous enhancement of our processes.

You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to ad hoc projects, including investigations, data analytics, and risk management. Some UK and international travel may be required (up to 10%).

What you’ll do

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Lead and deliver core risk-based audit activities, including risk assessments, test programmes, and drafting reports in line with Internal Audit methodology.
  • Engage business partners throughout audits, building strong relationships across the business, providing clear progress updates and supporting timely completion of agreed actions.
  • Maintain quality standards and deliver against KPIs while contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Support annual audit planning by recommending audits and analytics work.
  • Working collaboratively with all first- and second-line colleagues
  • Support the wider IA&R team contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

Who you are

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Excellent Internal Audit experience of a wide variety of industries, ideally with a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or IIA) or QBE.
  • Ability to design and deliver audit programmes from scratch, including risk assessment, controls evaluation, and report writing.
  • Excellent communication and commercial competence, capable of building strong business partner relationships and influencing effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and make practical recommendations.
