Working closely with 3PL partners, the role will drive performance across safety, service, cost and compliance, using robust governance to support strong operational delivery. With responsibility for day-to-day site operations, peak planning and key network initiatives, this position brings together operational excellence and strategic thinking, using data-led insights to identify improvement opportunities, enhance customer service and deliver value. The role will also help shape a connected One Team culture, building strong stakeholder relationships and supporting the future growth and resilience of the M&S supply chain network.
We are looking for someone with proven logistics and supply chain leadership experience, strong commercial awareness and a track record of supporting operational, service and cost performance. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and analytical thinker, able to use data and AI-driven insights to solve problems, manage risk and identify opportunities for improvement. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills are important, alongside a collaborative, resilient and self-motivated approach to leading change in a fast-paced environment.
NB: The role will be based from one of our Logistics hubs, Bradford, Castle Donington, Welham Green or our Waterside Support Centre dependent on the successful candidate’s location. This role will involve regular travel to sites across the country.
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Lead warehouse operations to deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective service, ensuring KPI, budget and stock accuracy targets are achieved across accountable sites.
- Manage and influence 3PL partners, driving performance, contractual compliance and continuous improvement through robust governance and review processes.
- Drive operational excellence by using data-led insights to identify opportunities, remove barriers, mitigate risks and enhance service and cost performance.
- Support strategic network initiatives, including peak planning, capacity management and operational change programmes that strengthen business performance.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and engaged teams, championing collaboration, inclusion and a One Team culture across the supply chain network.
Your skills and experience will include:
- Proven experience leading complex warehouse or distribution operations, including highly automated or robotics-enabled environments.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing operational budgets, controlling costs and driving performance through effective 3PL and contract management.
- Ability to use data, insight and AI-driven tools to solve complex challenges, mitigate risks and identify opportunities to improve service and efficiency.
- Strong understanding of store and ecommerce operations, with the ability to balance customer needs, operational priorities and business objectives.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with a collaborative approach, confidence to challenge constructively and resilience to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
