What you will do:
- Own the end-to-end taxonomy optimisation process, including gap analysis, taxonomy mapping, briefing to build teams, and post-implementation performance analysis.
- Manage associated content optimisation, identifying new and existing pages for enhancement and managing content migrations in line with URL or structural changes.
- Leverage internal and external search data, UX research, and competitor insights to identify taxonomy gaps and recommend improved user journeys across category and facet pages.
- Lead on site hygiene improvements to strengthen SEO performance; identifying low-value pages and implementing redirects, canonical tags, and meta-robots directives.
- Work with the SEO Manager to create a taxonomy roadmap, setting category priorities to support business growth and increase search visibility.
- Provide SEO consultation and training; upskilling stakeholders on best practice and articulating the role taxonomy plays in wider online and acquisition strategies.
- Alignment with external partners; coordinating with external copywriting and Content SEO agencies.
- Stay up to date on search trends, algorithm changes, and industry developments, sharing relevant insights and opportunities with the team.
Who you are:
- Demonstrable experience working within SEO teams or agencies ideally within a retail/eCommerce environment.
- Strong understanding of SEO best practice, with specialist knowledge of content and taxonomy optimisation principles and how they influence organic search visibility.
- Strong project management and organisational skills; experience handling large-scale data sets and complex site changes.
- Data-driven approach; capable of supporting recommendations with quantitative evidence and monitoring taxonomy performance post-implementation.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to convey technical changes and ideas clearly and persuasively to individuals or groups, with an excellent grasp of English spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Collaborative mindset, and able to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders; merchandisers, analysts, commercial and product teams.
- Proficient in a variety of SEO and analytics tools (e.g., Google Search Console, Google Trends, Adobe Analytics, Botify, SEO rank trackers).
- Desirable: Awareness of Technical SEO and Digital PR, and how both align with Content SEO to impact performance.
