We’re looking for a Senior Technologist to play a key role in delivering high‑quality, trend‑led men’s outerwear across our global range. You’ll be responsible for ensuring exceptional fit, construction and execution, bringing technical excellence to every stage of product development. Working closely with Buying, Design and Sourcing teams, you’ll help shape seasonal collections across woven, filled, leather and suede outerwear. You’ll champion product quality, maintain robust technical standards and oversee accurate PLM and tech pack data, ensuring products are fit for purpose, stylish and customer‑focused.
In this role, you’ll manage critical‑path delivery, drive technical innovation and lead wear testing and benchmarking to keep our outerwear competitive in the market. You’ll also work with global suppliers and sourcing offices to maximise technical capability, while acting as a brand ambassador for ethical, safety and sustainability standards.
About you
You’ll be an experienced Menswear Technologist with strong outerwear expertise, excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence cross‑functional teams. A passion for product, pace and quality is essential, along with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and use data and insight to inform decision‑making.
To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
- As part of the Menswear clothing team, deliver excellent product execution, fit and grading standards in the business area, ensuring all products are industry‑leading, fit for purpose and stylish across the entire Outerwear range.
- Working in partnership with the department Buyer and Designers to create the seasonal collections, including leather and suede.
- Participate in benchmarking and wear testing exercises in your BU, be able to articulate where the M&S product sits in the market compared to our competitors.
- Maintain technical standards across the business area putting customer requirements at the centre of policy.
- Work with sourcing offices to maintain up to date knowledge of technical capability of M&S’ supply base within the business area, regularly sharing applying knowledge and expertise of fabric, construction and technical innovation to develop products that better meet the needs of the customer.
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include:
- Menswear specialist with an avid interest in the UK and Global Menswear markets.
- Expertise in the field of Outerwear product development, including manufacturing, fit, construction and/or fabric / raw materials.
- Previous experience in multiple product areas including Woollen Outerwear, Filled products, Leather and Suede.
- Excellent communication skills within C&H Technical Function, Design and Buying, Supply Base and Global Sourcing Offices.
- Ability to interpret Departmental Strategy and provide insights based on technical knowledge.
