Our International business has the exciting job of bringing our famous clothing, food and home products to over 32 million customers worldwide. Collaborating with our partner businesses, different countries and cultures, you\\\’ll work with colleagues around the world to help us reshape International as we know it.

We are looking for a Junior Buyer to join the team at this exciting time. This role is accountable for delivering the International Product Strategy, leading the Global brand and Business Unit strategy into our International markets, optimising our brand and product proposition and delivering against International performance objectives and KPIs.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What you’ll do

Your key accountabilities will include

  • Promote & drive a clear understanding of the M&S international customer and markets, ensuring the segments and demographics needs are understood and put at the heart of the product offer developed.
  • Drive the International integration with the Business Units through the product and range development process and critical path; ensuring specific International insights and requirements are briefed, aligned and delivered against. Where required, work with BU Buying and Design to interpret and adapt to International market trends and direction, ensuring that the range developed is differentiating and targeted to the needs of the customer.
  • Act as a key point of contact for the Partnerships Team and in market Buying teams on all BU and product related topics; liaising into the BU where required and facilitating alignment/support.
  • Take accountability for additional M&S projects as required.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of finished goods and materials supply base and support processes to ensure M&S quality is maintained.

Who you are

Your skills and experience will include

  • Significant Technical expertise in the field of Buying including experience with a major clothing retailer and proven track record of developing and trading highly commercial ranges that exceed agreed KPIs. International experience is preferred.
  • Passion for delivering world class product through global, multi-channel retailing.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the current competitive marketplace and key competitors with the ability to identify relevant product trends and commercial opportunities.
  • In depth knowledge of cost price negotiations and global sourcing and ability to collaborate with colleagues in Global Sourcing Offices (where used) to develop the supply base.
  • Multi-task orientated with the ability to work to tight deadlines to the Buying critical path.
