Working pattern: Hybrid 2-3 days in the office
***Applicants must be Midlands based*** with the ability to commute to the Central Birmingham offices up to 3 days per week.
Marks Sattin are working with a Central Birmingham organisation who are leaders in their industry to recruit an experienced interim Financial Accountant with a strong technical accounting background to provide comprehensive support throughout their audit period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completion of month end activities e.g. opening and closing accounting periods, preparing prepayment journals and other ad hoc journals
- Preparation/review of monthly accounts payable, accounts receivable and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintaining the asset register and lease models and preparing/reviewing monthly asset and lease reconciliations
- Preparation of VAT and Tax returns
- Preparation/review of and publication of statutory accounts
- Support the preparation of the financial statements and notes within the Accounts
- Prepare and provide documentation to external auditors and working with them to resolve queries during the audit
- Support the analysis of current processes to identify and implement ways to improve processes and financial control
- Strong technical accounting background and financial accounting skills
- Proven experience in the preparation of accounts and financial statements and experience of audits.
- Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems used for financial reporting and ledger management
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Good organisation and self-management
- Ability to present financial information clearly and confidently to various audiences, including senior management and external auditors
- Proficient in using Excel and ability to use skills to analyse and present data
- Working at pace
